Nationals Member for Tweed Geoff Provest MP is encouraging eligible households across the Tweed to take advantage of a NSW Government program offering new, energy and water-efficient washing machines for just $250.
Mr Provest said the Washing Machine Exchange Program would provide practical assistance to households facing cost-of-living pressures, while also helping reduce water and energy bills.
“Eligible pensioners, veterans, social housing tenants and low-income households can trade in their existing top-loading washing machine for a brand-new 8kg front-loader for just $250,” Mr Provest said.
“This is a practical program that puts money back into the pockets of households while helping people replace older, less efficient appliances.
“Participating households are expected to save around $300 a year through reduced water, electricity and detergent use, as well as approximately 20,000 litres of water every year.
For eligible concession card holders, the subsidised package includes:
- A new 8kg water and energy-efficient front-loading washing machine
- Delivery anywhere in NSW
- Professional installation
- A two-year warranty
- Removal and recycling of the old washing machine
The program is being delivered through The Good Guys Commercial.
“For families and pensioners watching every dollar, those savings can make a real difference to the household budget.”
Mr Provest said the program also delivered environmental benefits by helping reduce household water and energy consumption.
“The Tweed is a growing community and it is important that we continue to support practical measures that improve water efficiency while providing genuine cost-of-living relief,” he said.
“Previous rounds of this program have been extremely popular, so I encourage eligible residents to check their eligibility and apply early.”
The subsidised package includes delivery anywhere in NSW, installation, a two-year warranty and removal of the old washing machine for recycling.
The Washing Machine Exchange Program is part of the NSW Water Efficiency Program.
