Nationals Member for Tweed Geoff Provest MP has today congratulated Tumbulgum Fishing Club on reeling in funding.
The Tweed has received a welcome boost for recreational fishing, with the NSW Government today announcing funding for several local projects through the Recreational Fishing Trust.
A total of $8,000 has been allocated to the Club deliver fishing education sessions for beginners and children, providing an opportunity for young and new anglers to develop their skills, learn about responsible fishing practices and enjoy the Tweed’s waterways.
The funding builds on the success of previous Recreational Fishing Trust investment in the region.
Following successful funding in 2025 for new accessible fishing platforms, the Tumbulgum Fishing Club is continuing its work to make recreational fishing more accessible and inclusive for the local community.
The latest funding will support further initiatives aimed at encouraging participation in recreational fishing and ensuring people of all ages and abilities can enjoy the Tweed’s waterways.
“These projects are a great investment in our local fishing community and will help introduce more people to recreational fishing while promoting safe, responsible and inclusive participation,” Mr Provest said.
The Recreational Fishing Trust is funded by the NSW Recreational Fishing Fee and supports projects that improve fishing opportunities, facilities, education and access for recreational anglers across the state.
The Tweed’s successful projects will help strengthen the local recreational fishing community while providing greater opportunities for children, families and people of all abilities to get involved.
