Construction work continues on upgrades to Kingscliff High School, Kingscliff Public School, Tweed River High School and Tweed Heads South Public School, with local member Geoff Provest visiting the sites today.
The NSW Government is delivering record funding in school infrastructure across NSW with $120 million being invested in the Tweed electorate.
Mr Provest was excited to see the ongoing work at the schools, which will benefit local students for many years to come.
“I’m proud that the NSW Government is delivering education infrastructure for Tweed and supporting families in this area,” Mr Provest said.
Kingscliff High School is being upgraded to provide the latest education facilities and cater to the growing local community. When completed, it will include flexible learning environments, a new library, new senior learning environment, refurbished hospitality teaching facilities, new creative and performing arts building and a purpose-built sports pavilion.
Site establishment activities to prepare for main works construction at Kingscliff High School began over the summer holidays and main works will commence shortly.
The upgrade at Tweed River High School will provide new permanent learning spaces and core facilities, as well as new specialist vocational education facilities as part of the NSW Government Vocational Schools Initiative. It will include new and refurbished learning spaces, a new library, new technical and applied studies building, a senior learning environment, enhanced student canteen, enhanced hospitality teaching facilities and new commercial kitchen, specialist vocational education facilities and an expanded support unit.
Works have been completed on the new science laboratories and general learning areas, including a computer room and a marine studies and aquaculture room. Main works to deliver the new vocational and education training (VET) facilities will begin soon.
The upgrade at Kingscliff Public School will deliver new flexible learning environments, an extended school hall with a new student canteen and out of school hours care (OSHC) facilities, a new library, new administration and staff facilities, a variety of outdoor spaces and a more visually appealing and practical street entry.
Tweed Heads South Public School is being upgraded to provide new permanent learning spaces and core facilities, including a new library, a more visually appealing and practical street entry, new student canteen, new out of school hours care (OSHC) facilities and improved playground and outdoor spaces.
