Member for Tweed Geoff Provest MP has today welcomed funding for Tweed Shire Council to become more disaster ready.
Over $5.5 million dollars has been allocated to the Tweed, Byron, Ballina, Richmond, Kyogle, Clarence and Lismore Councils through Round Three of the Disaster Ready Fund.
“This funding will allow the Councils to enhance disaster planning, preparations and response capabilities,” Mr Provest said.
“From upgraded evacuation centres to strengthened levees and community preparedness programs this investment is an important step towards building community resilience.”
“Our communities are no stranger to severe weather events so this funding will be a welcomed investment in projects that will reduce risk and protect lives and livelihoods.”
