The Tweed is subject to much stricter COVID rules from 5pm today (31/3/21) until at least midnight on Easter Monday, Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest has warned.

“Mask wearing is compulsory in shops, on buses and in all other public indoor settings; the one per 4 square metre rule applies and the number of household visitors is capped at 30,” Mr Provest said.

“These rules apply in the Tweed as well as the Byron, Ballina and Lismore LGA areas following the spread of a small outbreak in Brisbane recently.”

“The Government also asks local residents not to travel outside their local areas over the coming days although there are no current plans to close the state border.”

“If you have any symptoms, please get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received”.
