Nationals Member for Tweed Geoff Provest MP has confirmed three local surf clubs were successful in securing funding through the recent round of the Surf Club Facility Program.
Grants of up to $1 million were offered across three categories to support projects that upgrade, restore, or build surf lifesaving facilities, helping ensure they remain modern, inclusive, and accessible.
Projects that encourage participation by women and girls, people with disability, First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTQIA+ are a priority of the Program.
Projects receiving funding through the Surf Club Facility Program are:
- Cabarita Beach SLSC – $25,877 for the installation of solar batteries
- Cudgen Headland SLSC – $100,000 for the purchased and installation of an internal lift.
- Salt SLSC – $345,345 for the upgrade to the kitchen, deck and bar facilities
“We all recognise the vital role surf lifesavers play in coastal communities—keeping people safe in the water and creating opportunities for a wide range of individuals to contribute through volunteering,” Mr Provest said.
“Our volunteers deserve safe, accessible, and secure facilities to train new lifesavers and support the community, and these upgrades will help deliver exactly that.”
