Claims by Richmond Labor MP Justine Elliot that the NSW Government is cutting funding to Murwillumbah schools are malicious and just plain wrong, according to Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest.
“The reforms to education in Murwillumbah is a NSW Government investment of over $100 million for our local schools,” Mr Provest said.
“This new project will deliver more classrooms, better facilities and improved curriculum offerings for students in Murwillumbah.”
“By contrast, Ms Elliot has delivered precisely nothing for the Tweed over the past seven years except scare campaign after scare campaign, all of which have proven to be groundless,” Mr Provest concluded.
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said “It is incredibly concerning that the Murwillumbah community is represented by a federal member who argues against an education investment of well over $100 million for local schools.
“This is politicking and fear mongering at its worst”, Ms Mitchell said.
Never before in NSW history has a government invested more in education than the Berejiklian-Barilaro Government.
Labor used to be a party that cared about education. It is a crying shame that the local member cares more about getting a headline than educational outcomes for local students.
