A 13-event program by Tweed Shire Council will ahead in the coming months thanks to a $392,221 grant from the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government, Tweed MP Geoff Provest has announced.

“Tweed Shire Council’s “Together Tweed: 13 events to Reconnect Community” features events across the Tweed Shire that will reconnect the community and support local businesses following the 2022 Floods and COVID-19,” Mr Provest said.

The events will take place both in the northern part of the Tweed, represented by Geoff Provest, and Murwillumbah hinterland, represented by Lismore MP Janelle Saffin.

“There is nothing my friend Janelle and I like more than delivering funding for local community events and these constitute well-earned R&R for locals after the trauma of COVID border closures and then the devasting flooding events,” Mr Provest said.

The events will be delivered in partnership with local community organisations and local event managers, and comprise:

1. The Kinship Festival

2. Momentum YOUth Festival

3. A Tiny Taste of Tyalgum

4. James and the Giant Peach Pantomime

5. Uki COMM-FEST

6. Jazz in the Tweed

7. Reconnect at Tweed Junction

8. Poets Out Loud Community Voices Program

9. Summer Dayz Festival

10. New Years Eve Community Fireworks Spectacular

11. Nights at the Museum – Capturing Nature (Night 5)

12. Band, Burgers and Beer Night

13. Brews, Beats and Eats

The $25 million Reconnecting Regional NSW – Community Events Program is part of the $200 million Regional Recovery Package, designed to support economic and social recovery across regional NSW that will create new jobs and support community events, shows and festivals to boost tourism.
