Member for Tweed Geoff Provest said today’s Budget will continue record levels of investment in infrastructure for Tweed including the new Tweed Hospital, major school redevelopments and affordable housing.
“We’re keeping our election promises and helping make the Tweed a healthier, safer and better educated place,” Mr Provest said.
Major upgrades will be delivered to Kingscliff Public School, Kingscliff High School, Tweed Heads South Primary School and Tweed River High School. Funding to clear all school maintenance backlogs has also been set aside.
$97 million has been allocated for the next stage of required works for the Tweed Valley Hospital, and funding for a new home for the Kingscliff Fire station has also been earmarked.
Tweed Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA) will receive a brand new quick response vehicle, additional equipment and training committed during the election.
Significant funding has been set aside for new social housing properties in Tweed and over $5.1 million to establish an assertive outreach service.
The promised $1 million to commence strategic planning for a future light rail between Tweed Heads and Coolangatta also appears in the budget.
The continuation of the Active Kids Program will now see two $100 vouchers available to families. The NSW Government is committed to the health and wellbeing of children, through increased activity.
January 2020 will see the roll out of the $250 Regional Seniors Transport card promised during the election.
This budget also provides:
• $8 million investment with Foodbank to rollout free breakfast in 500 public schools across the State
• Record $19.7 million for suicide prevention and expended Mental Health services
• 4600 more teachers
• $2.8 billion to recruit a total of 8,300 frontline health staff over four years
• Investment of $17.7 billion in the Stronger Communities cluster, which will include helping people with disability, children and older people lead
safe and fulfilling lives.
This is a fantastic result for NSW as a whole and for the Tweed in particular.
