The new $17 million vocational education hub at Tweed River High School will specialise in training for Construction, Hospitality and Primary Industries and Business.
Tweed River High School will be equipped with industry standard training facilities for the delivery of vocational qualifications in Construction, Hospitality and Primary Industries and Business.
Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the school upgrade will provide students with world class facilities and the opportunity to leave school with an HSC and qualifications in Construction, Hospitality and Primary Industries and Business.
“The vocational hub at Tweed River High School is leading the state in how we support students to reach their educational goals,” Ms Mitchell said.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for the community, giving students a head start in various fields of study in state-of-the-art facilities.”
“This is part of the government’s commitment to integrate skills into schools, helping students leave Year 12 armed with a number of qualifications to succeed in their careers.”
Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said the new vocational facilities will greatly benefit the students and teachers at Tweed River High School, and the wider community.
“Vocational skills are an important pathway towards a meaningful career, and the new Vocational Education Training Hub will empower school students to pursue a career in growing industries in Tweed like hospitality and business,” Mr Lee said.
“I’m proud that the NSW Government is delivering this very important project for the people of Tweed. It is part of the continued commitment to provide the very best education facilities for public school students in NSW.
Member for Tweed Geoff Provest said the school is in a central location for students looking to pursue vocational pathways into employment.
“The Tweed River High School is centrally located with nearby TAFE and university campuses to support the delivery of unique learning opportunities. The school is also close to the Tweed Valley Hospital Development and Tweed Valley Skills Centre.
“The Department of Education will continue consultation with the broader community. I would encourage the community to continue to get involved and to share their thoughts and ideas on this exciting project,” Mr Provest said.
Information sessions are scheduled at the Tweed Heads South Community Hall for Tuesday, 30 March.
