Nationals Member for Tweed, Geoff Provest, has announced two projects in the Tweed Electorate will receive a combined total of $979,975 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.

The Pottsville Neighbourhood Centre has secured NSW Government funding to deliver the innovative Tweed Coast YouthPlanted Program. This program has been co-designed with young people themselves and the Cabarita Youth Service to provide positive activities focused on youth development. It includes elements relating to employment, mental health, life skills, relationships and resilience building.

Cabarita Beach Surf Lifesaving Club will receive funding to complete alterations and additions to its existing facilities, including an emergency control room, new observation deck, two training rooms, undercover training area for Nippers, as well as additional office space and meeting facilities.

“While these are two very different projects, both will be of enormous benefit to the Tweed,” Mr Provest said.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said $100 million was being distributed across regional NSW, with regional communities set to benefit from more than 550 new projects.

“We are funding grassroots projects that make a real difference to each community, and we know how important it is to support our regional towns with new infrastructure and programs.”

To date, rounds one and two of the program have funded more than 1,000 projects.

The $400 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.7 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is being invested in local programs and infrastructure that improve the lives of people living in regional NSW.
