The Tweed Shire now has its first indoor Return and Earn recycling centre, with a new facility now paying out at 61-65 Wharf Street opposite Tweed Mall, Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest has announced.

“Tweed residents love Return and Earn: since the Nationals in NSW Government installed the first machine four years ago Tweed residents have recycled 104 million containers raising more than $10 million,” Mr Provest said.

“It is good to now have a centre north of the Tweed River, to complement the ones in Tweed Heads South, Terranora, Kingscliff, Pottsville and Murwillumbah.”

Mr Provest said local charities and schools were increasingly using the scheme to raise much-needed funds.

“Tweed Heads Public School is currently using Return and Earn to fundraise for their school and have planned an excursion to the new return point so students can understand the recycling process first-hand,” Mr Provest said.

Across NSW, 6.3 billion containers have been recycled through the scheme and more than $24.5 million has been raised for charities and community groups.

Users of the new Return and Earn Centre have the option to print a voucher for the refund amount, redeemable for cash at Woolworths, or, if they download the MyTOMRA app before visiting, payments can be made directly into their PayPal or bank account.

The Return and Earn Centre Tweed Heads is at 61-65 Wharf Street. It is open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 6pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.
