Member for Tweed Geoff Provest has congratulated Blue Ginger Picnics from Kingscliff on their outstanding achievement at the 2019 NSW Tourism Awards, which were held last night at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney.

In its 30th year, the NSW Tourism Awards acknowledge tourism businesses that demonstrate outstanding achievement throughout the year.

Mr Provest said receiving Gold for Specialised Tourism Services at the NSW Tourism Awards is well-deserved recognition of the Tweed region’s excellent tourism offerings.

“Tourism is an important industry for the Tweed region and this accolade recognises the incredible work and expertise of those in our community and also raises the profile of the region as a whole,” said Mr Provest.

Speaking at the Awards, NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney, Stuart Ayres highlighted the importance of tourism and events to the State’s economy and praised the industry for its role in maintaining NSW’s stronghold as Australia’s number-one State.

“The NSW Government has set an ambitious target of delivering $55 billion in overnight visitor expenditure for the State’s economy by 2030, and the calibre of industry leaders recognised by these awards give me great confidence that we will surpass that target,” said Mr. Ayres.

“At the heart of the State’s success are the many hard-working individuals and business across NSW who work tirelessly to deliver world-class tourism experiences. We are proud to celebrate each and every one of them and I thank them all for their commitment to excellence.”

Managed by the Tourism Industry Division of the NSW Business Chamber and supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, the 2019 NSW Tourism Awards featured 27 categories, including tourist attractions, festivals and events, ecotourism, new tourism business, destination marketing, accommodation and excellence in accessible tourism.
