The Tweed has strong representation in Team Australia competing at the Commonwealth Games which start in Birmingham England on Thursday, Tweed Nationals MP Geoff Provest says.
“Congratulations to the Tweed’s Madison Fitzpatrick (Hockey), Damian Delgado (Bowls), Flynn Southam (Swimming) and Brandon Copeland (Triathlon) who have trained so hard to earn their place in Australia’s strong squad,” Mr Provest said.
“These are hugely popular sports in the Tweed, which is arguably Australia’s lawn bowls capital.”
Cabarita’s Madison Fitzpatrick has told the ABC that the Hockeyroos are going for gold after their bronze medal at the last World Cup where they defeated Germany in the third-place playoff.
The Commonwealth Games can be watched live on Channel 7 from 29 July to 9 August 2022.
